Koom the Ripper photoshoot

This past weekend I had a photo shoot with my friend Koom the Ripper. I originally planned on going to 3 different locations that day to get different looks for his album, which is going to be coming out very soon, but it started to rain. Instead of going to the third location, we went to my garage at home where I set up a make-shift studio complete with blanket backdrop and a three-bulb house lamp for lighting.

I am finally working on revamping my entire blog to make it look, feel and navigate much better with a bright and shiny new theme. That should be a good thing, right? Well, in my quest to make that happen, I had to disable a lot of plugins due to conflicts with the new widgets and extensions.

Now, I have to find out which plugins I need/don’t need anymore and replace any plugins I think are a necessity. One plugin that I heavily relied on (Crossroads flickr plugin) is completely incompatible with my new theme because it uses prototype and my theme relies on mootools. If you didn’t already know, they don’t get along very well. Since I can’t use the plugin anymore, I have to go back through all of the posts and pages that I have photos in and recode them. Not to mention the fact that I have to transfer all of the photos that I am using from flickr to my blog. I also have to create thumbnails of each photo.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the new theme and I also love the old plugin I was using…I just thought I would have more time before I had to start migrating the old posts to use the new plugins. I also don’t really mind having to go through all of my blog posts since it gives me a chance to review old posts and clean up tags and categories.

On the bright side, once that’s all done, I won’t be embarrassed to show anyone my blog anymore.

So last week, I showed a co-worker of mine how to apply Arctic Silver and explained to him how you are supposed to use very little. I made sure that he knew how little to use by repeating it a few times then telling him some more and did I mention he was watching me?

Anyways, one day when I wasn’t at the office, I asked him to help me troubleshoot a server. I thought that it might be a CPU that went bad so I asked him to try each one (dual processor motherboard) individually which of course, meant that he would have to remove the processors which in turn leads to cleaning and re-applying the thermal compound (See “How to apply Arctic Silver.”)

Canon HV-10 Camcorder review

I have been lagging on my Canon HV-10 HD Camcorder review mostly because I use it more as a digital camera than a camcorder. I would have to say that it is a pretty good digital camera as long as you don’t have a shaky hand.
Canon HV10 3.1MP High-Definition MiniDV Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom
A few specs on the Canon HV10:

  • 2.96mp CMOS Image Sensor
  • High-Definition MiniDV Camcorder
  • 10x Optical Zoom
